12/09/2025

This ASK MAT article discusses a real scenario where someone submitted a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) to the Jersey Financial Intelligence Unit (JFIU) and received feedback that was less than ideal.

The ASK MAT post includes:

  • A summary of the JFIU’s qualitative feedback approach.
  • Commentary on how SARs are evaluated.
  • References to international guidance (UKFIU, FinCEN, Europol) for improving SAR quality.
  • A supportive response from “May” acknowledging the stress of SAR submissions and offering practical advice.

And to MAT's surprise, there was some supportive feedback as follows.
