Switzerland's FIU releases its first-ever financial crime typology report.

19/05/2025

This typology report, published by Switzerland's Money Laundering Reporting Office (SMLRO), aims to provide financial intermediaries with practical examples of suspicious circumstances related to money laundering and terrorist financing and thereby raise awareness of these facts.

There are 20 cases, ranging from

  • Transit accounts in scam schemes
  • Using artworks for money laundering and
  • Detecting alleged bribes from Syria.

Based on practical cases, SMLROs have compiled examples to illustrate indicators, potential risks, and methods for combating money laundering and terrorist financing for financial intermediaries.

The target audience includes employees of the compliance departments and those in direct customer contact, as well as members of senior management responsible for due diligence.

This typology report is published on the SMLROs website. The collection is constantly being expanded.
