DPAs in Jersey

In October, Dr Helen Miles - Minister for Home Affairs, lodged Proposition 103/2022, which contains the Draft Criminal Justice (Deferred Prosecution Agreements) (Jersey) Law.

If adopted, this new law will provide the Law Officers' Department, Jersey, with an additional tool to dispose of criminal conduct regarding legal entities.

Introducing deferred prosecution agreements [DPAs] will put Jersey's enforcement tool kit on par with jurisdictions like the USA and the UK, which already have DPA regimes.

Following the introduction of the failure to prevent money laundering offences earlier this year, Jersey continues to add innovative measures to combat financial crime, thereby future-proofing its standing as a leading and well-regulated finance centre.
