December 2025 Important updates to UK SARs guidance

On 12 December 2025, the UK Financial Intelligence Unit (UKFIU) published three new Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) Best Practice guidance documents, replacing all previous guidance.
The new documents relate to SARs, defence against money laundering requests (DAML) and defence against terrorist financing requests under (DATF).
- Chapter 1: Using the SAR Portal
- Chapter 2: Submitting a SAR
- Chapter 3: Understanding DAMLs and DATFs
The updated guidance, together with all other UKFIU products, is available on the National Crime Agency website.
This replaces all previous UKFIU guidance, which has now been withdrawn and should be disregarded. Please delete all previous versions from your internal systems and update any links.
Remember, it is essential that you keep your main contact details up to date on the SAR Portal.
