Guernsey seizes £2.6 million of Norwegian proceeds of crime.
23/05/2025
The Guernsey Law Officers have reported the conclusion of a mutual legal assistance request with Norway, which resulted in the confiscation of circa £2.6 million and a subsequent asset share agreement with the Norwegian authorities.
Circa £1.3 million has now been paid into Guernsey's Seized Asset Funds, from which they will be used for the ultimate benefit of the government and our community.
HM Procureur stated that:
- "The recent successful conclusion of this matter is testament to the tenacity and diligence of the Norwegian authorities and the staff in the Law Officer's Chambers' dedicated Economic Crime Unit (ECU).
- Staff from the ECU worked collaboratively with our Norwegian colleagues and with domestic law enforcement partners, including the Economic & Financial Crime Bureau.
- I am delighted that, due to their hard work, we have been able to enforce the Norwegian confiscation orders and share the assets with Norway."
